Local governments and the World Health Organization have urged all citizens to stay home, and at SIGNIS we do so without interrupting our duties. The Brussels and Rome offices will remain closed until further notice but remain active during the global crisis caused by the Covid-19 disease, continuing to work full time.
We are convinced that our experience in international collaboration and the ability to carry out most of our tasks and communications online will allow us to proceed to work from home. Like everyone else, we had to change our lifestyle and our ways of working but the most important thing remains to fulfill our responsibilities in every corner of the world.
We thank all those who are part of our team who with courage and resilience find themselves working from home, ensuring that all our projects and activities continue to move forward and grow. In addition, we are close to all the people who like us in Italy are facing this serious crisis, remembering that it is essential to follow the recommendations of the WHO and the government to protect not only ourselves but also others, and thus return to our daily lives as soon as possible.
Remembering the words of Pope Francis “… like the disciples in the Gospel we were caught off guard by an unexpected, turbulent storm. We have realized that we are on the same boat, all of us fragile and disoriented, but at the same time important and needed, all of us called to row together, each of us in need of comforting the other. On this boat… are all of us.”, we would like to invite everyone to join us at SIGNIS in prayer. We pray for those who have fallen ill, for those who suffer, for those who face this crisis first-hand, for those who protect others, for all the men and women of all faiths who can’t wait to embrace their loved ones.
