History and expertise
SIGNIS Services Rome is the pastoral and technical branch of SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication. We were born in 1928 as experts in communication, and subsequently in information technologies, and we are based in Rome. Our mission is to promote communication for development in the areas where it is needed the most through our media development services and consultancy.
Through our technical and project development departments, we listen to the communication needs of the people, and with them, we develop specific ideas for improving access to communication. These projects may be for the creation of new radio stations, new tv broadcasters, communication centers, providing internet connections via satellite, and much more.
Furthermore, we provide the equipment necessary to build recording studios, solar panels to make the facilities sustainable, practical training on topics like web design or podcasting and various portable services.
With our services we witness great impact as we are providing reliable sources of information, giving tools to fight fake news, giving a voice to the voiceless, or, as our Saint Patron Óscar Romero used to say, a face to the faceless.
From Vatican City, we provide our services as a non-profit organization in order to promote the values of the Gospel, human rights, peace, interreligious dialogue, and human development.
We work with Catholic organizations, missionaries, and other entities that have communication needs and also alongside the youth and universities since we believe that young people are the leading force to transform society.
